A lucky woman is celebrating in Exeter after winning a £50,000 jackpot at Mecca Bingo, having made a spur-of-the-moment decision to play the National Bingo Game.

The winner, who usually plays at the Mecca Bingo venue in Taunton, was in Exeter visiting a friend when she landed the big win on October 10. The pair had not planned in advance to visit the bingo club but decided to visit on a whim.

They took part in the National Bingo Game and she won the top prize after marking all the numbers on her ticket and calling “house” within the first 16 calls.

Recently, we shared the story of Paul Dunning winner from Club 3000 Kilmarnock, who also played in the National Bingo Game. It seems to be that this game is a lucky draw for bingo enthusiasts.

Club Erupted in Spontaneous Applause

Speaking about the moment the woman won, Emma Herrett, the duty manager at Mecca Bingo Exeter, said that the club fell into a stunned silence before erupting in applause when the win took place. She said it was the biggest win she had seen in just over a year working at the club and described it as “unreal”, adding that the winner was in “total shock”.

“We’re always thrilled for our winners but the £50k National Bingo Game jackpot is a real cause for celebration. The customer often visits us but usually plays at our sister club in Taunton. She happened to be in Exeter with a friend when they made a spur of the moment decision to come in.

Everyone in the club fell silent. Our caller, Sandra Prowse, called me over to check the numbers and we realised that the claim had been made on the 16th number, which meant that the jackpot had been triggered. Sandra’s a seasoned professional and has made lots of jackpot winners but I’ve only been working here for 14 months so this is the biggest win that I’ve overseen. I couldn’t believe it myself when I confirmed that our customer had won £50,000.”

Emma went on to say that she felt elated when making the announcement and that everyone in the club was so happy that they “spontaneously stood up and clapped”. She added that she loves working in the bingo club, which she described as a “happy place” where “the team and the customers are so friendly, and every day is different.”

While not much is known about the Mecca Bingo club winner in Exeter, it is understood that she will be sharing the prize money with her friend and that she is also planning to go on holiday with the proceeds of the win.

Daily Action at Mecca Bingo Exeter

Visitors to the Mecca Bingo club in Exeter, where the win happened, are able to participate in the National Bingo Game every day in the afternoon and evening.

The club also holds regular bingo sessions daily in the morning, afternoons and evenings, with prices starting at just £2. In addition to playing bingo, visitors can enjoy slots, food, and drink and make use of onsite facilities such as parking.

Food and drink can be ordered using the app and it is delivered to players’ tables in the club. It is also possible to pre-book bingo sessions at the club. This way, players are able to reserve a table and ensure that their Mecca Max tablet is ready and waiting when they arrive, or paper tickets if they prefer.

In addition to the £50,000 top prize, the National Bingo Game gives players the chance to win £100 for calling “house” in 24 numbers or less and £1,000 for calling “house” in 16 numbers or less. It costs £1 for a strip of two tickets and £2 for a strip of five tickets. Players will also have the chance to win the in-club prizes offered with the game that they are playing.

As we mentioned before, there is no reason to worry about the safety of this operator because it is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.
