Bingo players in and around Swindon have reason to be excited. Recently, a sign appeared saying that work is taking place on building a ‘Bingo Lounge’ in an empty location in the town centre.

For the last few weeks, work has been taking place at a location on Bridge Street, but it was only recently that signs went up to reveal what will be housed there. The venue, which is on the corner of Queens Street, is next door to a Shipleys Gaming location, which already offers slots and bingo and it is now expanding.

Swindon Borough Council gave the gambling operator the go-ahead for the Shipleys Bingo expansion and when the work is complete, the majority of the front of both units will be joined to create the bingo lounge. There, players will be able to enjoy online bingo on special screens while seated in a large open area designed to recreate the layout of a traditional bingo hall.

The venue will also house a number of gaming machines, but they will be located in a smaller area at the back of the new unit.

Speaking about the expansion, a spokesperson for Shipleys, said:

“There is an opportunity to feed into the existing and future economy which will contribute to the regeneration of central Swindon. The opportunity to offer commercial and employment generating development that contributes to the continued economic prosperity of the borough.”

Expansion Plans Approved by Council

While the council has policies that are designed to limit the number of gambling venues in the borough and, in particular, the town centre, the plan was approved as it didn’t require the establishment of a new venue, just the expansion of an existing one.

A spokesperson for the council explained,

“The proposal will replace an established adult gaming centre operating from part of these premises. Therefore, the number of betting and gambling outlets in the area will remain at four and will not increase to five. Furthermore, the bingo use has distinct characteristics.”

As the work has progressed, banners have been put up on the building advertising it as a new Shipleys Bingo venue. A wooden hoarding has also been placed at the front saying that it will be ‘Coming Soon’. However, there is no word yet on when it will open its doors to the public.

However, the Shipleys Bingo website says that the venue will be open 24 hours a day, with morning and afternoon bingo sessions every day except Sundays. There will also be evening bingo sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Huge Jackpots Up for Grabs Every Day

The Shipleys website claims that there are jackpots ranging from £500 up to £50,000 up for grabs every day, suggesting that it will be possible to take part in the National Bingo Game at the venue. It also promises to have the latest gaming machines, allowing visitors to enjoy everything from traditional slots to modern video slots on full HD screens.

The website mentions well-known player favourite slots such as Rainbow Riches, Monopoly, and Fluffy Favourites, and it also promises that the venue will be air-conditioned and offer free refreshments, including freshly ground coffee.

While waiting for the new Swindon Bingo venue to open, players can visit the Shipleys Slots website and claim a welcome bonus of 500 free spins on Starburst slot. The site offers a huge variety of games, including several themed bingo rooms with 90, 80, and 30 ball bingo. There are hundreds of slots to enjoy: scratch cards, RNG card and table games, and live dealer games.

It certainly seems that while Shipleys may be one of the smaller gambling operators around, they have plenty to offer their customers.
