The first win came in Blackpool on 10th July and the winner has chosen to remain anonymous. However, it is known that the winner is a regular player and that she hopes to spend her winnings on going abroad. Speaking about the win, Lenny Lubega, general manager at Mecca Bingo Blackpool, said:
“There must have been something in the air on Wednesday night – everyone in the club had plenty to be excited about. We’re always thrilled for our winners but the £50k National Bingo Game jackpot is a real cause for celebration!”
Next, on 12th July, a woman hit the jackpot at the Mecca Bingo club in Wakefield. She told staff at the club that she saw a lucky magpie earlier in the day and felt sure that a win was coming her way. Speaking about the win, Michael Palmer, assistant manager at Mecca Bingo Wakefield, said:
“The atmosphere in the venue was incredible. Many players know her and she’s never had a win before so they flurried over to congratulate her. She was so overjoyed and shed a lot of happy tears!”
Rounding off the winning period for Mecca Bingo players was a jackpot won at Mecca Bingo Knotty Ash in Merseyside. The winner had just come back from holiday and was playing on the day of the Euro 2024 final, 14th July.
The three wins were welcomed by Andy Crump, managing director at Mecca Bingo:
“It’s almost unheard of to have three £50K winners in just four days! The atmosphere in all our venues was electric and our staff are still overjoyed. We are thrilled and incredibly proud of these amazing wins for our players, and we can’t wait to celebrate even more in the very near future.”
The above wins took place in quick succession at various Mecca Bingo clubs, but they were far from the only National Bingo jackpots won in July at Mecca. The next one took place on 18th July at the Club 3000 Bingo in Old Trafford.
Once again, the winner has chosen to remain anonymous, but she is known to be a local woman who plays regularly at the club. The Old Trafford venue is currently undergoing a £1.5 million refurbishment that is scheduled to be finished in November; however, it will remain open for players while the work is carried out. Laura Knox, the club manager, said:
“We are all delighted for our winner. The atmosphere in the club was electric when we announced we had a £50,000 jackpot winner. We are always thrilled for our winners, but winning the big jackpot is an extra bonus.”
On 22nd July, there was another win at the Mecca Bingo Club in Glasgow Forge and then a win on 26th July at the Club 3000 Bingo venue in Ellesmere Port, but no details have yet been released about who the lucky winners are.
The National Bingo Game takes place in several bingo clubs across the UK twice a day, 364 days a year. It costs £1 for a strip of two tickets and £2 for a strip of five tickets. In addition to the £50,000 jackpot, which is won by calling ‘House’ in 16 numbers or less, the game also offers a £1,000 prize for ‘House’ in 20 numbers or less and a £100 prize for ‘House’ in 24 numbers or less.
