A lucky bingo player in Kilmarnock, Each Ayrshire, is likely still celebrating after he won a life-changing £50,000 at the end of September.
Paul Dunning won a massive jackpot in the National Bingo Game at the town’s Club 3000 venue on September 28. He is not the first to win the jackpot at the club. In November last year, an anonymous lucky woman won 50k pounds from National Bingo Game.
Dunning is reportedly a regular at the bingo with his wife Amanda, and they were playing the afternoon session together when the win happened.
Unsurprisingly, Dunning was over the moon with the jackpot win and said that he would use the money for a holiday and some home improvements:
“I can’t even put into words how I felt. I never thought it would happen, but I always dreamed of winning every time I came. My wife and I love coming here—the staff and the friendly atmosphere make so special; it is the luckiest club ever! Now, I’m planning some home improvements and a holiday, things I couldn’t do before!”
Joining him in celebration was Andrew Brand, the manager of Club 3000 Kilmarnock:
“We were thrilled to celebrate Paul’s win with him and his wife. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone cheering for one of our own. It’s amazing to see the National Bingo Big Prize claimed by another of our customers in less than a year!”
There have been a number of big wins at Club 3000 venues recently. As we reported earlier this month, Maureen Russell recently won a £100,000 jackpot when taking part in a special link game on September 29, the day after Dunning’s big win.
As the National Bingo Game continues to give players daily chances to win enormous jackpots, it is also busy preparing for the Grand Final of the Caller of the Year competition 2024.
The event will be taking place on Sunday, November 17, at the Mecca Bingo Club in Wakefield. The competition began with 200 entrants, and over the past few months, they have been whittled down to the final seven, who will go head to head in an attempt to be crowned the 2024 National Bingo Game Caller of the Year.
In the qualifying rounds, the entrants were judged on their bingo knowledge, showmanship, and calling skills. The final will be judged by a prestigious panel including Miles Baron, the CEO of The Bingo Association, the 2022 National Bingo Game Caller of the Year winner Benj Maycock, and a third judge who is yet to be announced.
In addition to the title, the winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000 and a trophy. They will also work as an ambassador for the land-based bingo industry and the National Bingo Game for the next two years. The other six finalists will receive a runners-up trophy and a prize of £500.
As mentioned, there will be seven competitors in this year’s final:

The reigning champion Benj Maycock, also known as BingooBenj, has been talking about his experience as Caller of the Year and his excitement at judging the upcoming competition:
“Performing my rap and winning the National Bingo Game title was an unforgettable experience. Representing the industry over the last two years has been incredible, from appearing on ITV’s This Morning to attending events at the House of Commons, where I highlighted the social and community benefits of bingo. I wish the next winner the best of luck and look forward to seeing them embrace their ambassador role. I can’t wait to see the talent and be a judge on the day.”
Miles Baron, CEO of the Bingo Association, added:
“The National Bingo Game Caller of the Year competition is a celebration of the talent, dedication, and skill of bingo callers, who are such an important part of the bingo experience. The 2024 competition has brought the industry together again for a fantastic event. It’s a chance to showcase the fun and joy that bingo callers bring to players and celebrate our wonderful community. We’re all excited to crown this year’s champion on November 17!”
