Those who live in or near Chippenham in Wiltshire have a new weekly event to look forward to. The Brunel pub has launched a weekly fundraising Drag Bingo night in order to raise money for Pride, which will be taking place on 15th June 2024.
The Drag Bingo nights are taking place every Thursday from now until Thursday, 13th June. The aim is to raise enough funds to enable the Chippenham Pride Committee to make Chippenham Pride bigger and better than ever before.
Local drag queen Traya Buns is hosting the evenings, which run from 7 pm to 11 pm. There will also be special guests and players will have the chance to win cash jackpots, enjoy 2-4-1 cocktails, win shot giveaways, and enjoy a fun-filled evening of laughter, comedy and cabaret. Those who aren’t bingo fans but wish to make a donation to the cause will find a Pride Fundraiser pot inside The Brunel pub.
We’ve introduced you not just once to bingo fundraising events, showcasing the bingo community’s willingness to support charitable causes.
The general manager of The Brunel, Emily Southcott, together with the rest of the pub’s staff, were all eager to help raise funds for the Chippenham Pride committee after meeting them and learning that the entire Chippenham Pride Event was organised by volunteers and that the event is only made possible through donations and sponsors.
Speaking recently, Southcott said:
“We at the Brunel felt strongly toward supporting Chippenham Pride Committee, and we know that with the generosity of the community we can help the committee to run their fabulous event. We decided to run the drag bingo as a way to fundraise for such an important cause and we can’t wait to see everybody enjoying themselves at the bingo nights.”
Tickets to the drag bingo nights cost just £2, with the proceeds being split between the cash jackpot prizes and the Chippenham Pride Committee.
Those who are hungry can choose from the pub’s extensive menu, which includes snacks such as chicken wings and onion rings, sandwiches, and more substantial foods such as burgers, steaks, and mixed grills. You can also enjoy all-day breakfasts, desserts, and plenty of vegetarian options.
When it comes to drinks, there is an impressive gin menu. Those looking for the 2-4-1 cocktails can choose from Strawberry Daiquiri, Pornstar Martini, Berry Blush, Woo Woo, Sex on the Beach, and Long Island Iced Tea. There are also plenty of bombs and shots to choose from. In addition, you’ll find all the standards, such as whiskies, vodkas, rums, beers, wines, and so on.
It’s also worth mentioning that there are several other exciting events scheduled at The Brunel. Friday evenings bring resident DJ Nick for a night of dancing, and often, the events are themed, such as Throwback 90s and 00s events. There are also regular Saturday night parties and the occasional special event worth keeping an eye out for.
Bingo has long been associated with fundraising and as Pride bingo events come closer, there is sure to be an increase in charity events. Simply look at the events pages of your local bingo venue to see what is taking place.
You can also donate money to good causes playing online bingo. For instance, there are regular charity games at Mecca Bingo. Every Monday to Saturday at 7:15 pm and on Sundays, every hour from 8:15 am to 11:15 pm, in Two Little Ducks, Main Event, Penny Lane, and Lucky for Some, 100% of profits from the games are donated to charity. Similarly, Buzz Bingo runs a number of charity games, and both operators also host charity events in their clubs. In short, whether you want the laughs and thrills of drag bingo at your local pub in Chippenham or the slightly calmer experience of playing online, playing bingo is an excellent way of donating to good causes.
