Bingo is not just about prizes, it is also about community and friendship, and sometimes all of these things come together, as was the case recently at a Club 3000 Bingo club in Coatbridge, Scotland.

September 29th was a busy and exciting night for the venue as it held its inaugural ‘Millionaire Night’ event. Part of the evening was a special link game, which connected all of Club 3000’s 24 bingo halls across the UK, which mirrors the concept of online bingo sites but it takes place in physical, brick-and-mortar venues.

One lucky player at the venue was the first in the nation to call ‘House’, winning the £100K jackpot, which she shared with her lifelong friend.

Maureen Russell, a 65-year-old grandmother from Airdrie, has been a regular at the bingo club since it opened in 2006. She celebrated the big win with four of her friends, including her best friend of 50 years. The two have always shared their bingo winnings and despite the size of Maureen’s latest windfall, she stuck to the tradition.

Speaking afterwards, Maureen said:

“I love coming to bingo, and Club 3000 at Coatbridge is always a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was amazing, and I couldn’t believe it when I won. The staff were wonderful, and the whole club was buzzing with excitement. I’m still in shock and haven’t decided how to spend the money yet, but it’s an incredible amount that will change my life.”

A Huge Success for Club 3000 Bingo

The event was a massive success for the operator, with nine Club 3000 venues full to capacity. Several other players at various other clubs also enjoyed big payouts. A lucky player in Cardiff took home the £10,000 two-line prize, while the £5,000 one-line prize was split between players in Blackpool and Doncaster.

However, it seems that Coatbridge is the place to be for big bingo wins. It still holds the record as being the place where the largest ever bingo jackpot was won, a massive £1.2 million during a National Bingo Game in 2008.

Louise Connelly, one of the managers working when Maureen hit her big win, said:

“It was a magical night. The atmosphere was electric, and we were overjoyed for Maureen. The moment she called for the full house, the entire club erupted with cheers. The joy from both staff and customers was overwhelming. We’re like a big family here, and we love providing opportunities for our bingo community to win big. Club 3000 Bingo is the place to be to win big money.”

The club is now preparing to hold a huge celebration for the £100K win of Maureen Russell, during which it will host a cheque presentation.

Club 3000 Bingo Goes from Strength to Strength

As noted, Club 3000 currently operates 24 venues across the UK, but it is currently working on opening two more.

In the near future, a new club is due to open in Hunslet, Leeds, following an investment of £3 million by the bingo operator. The new venue is set to generate 50 new jobs and it will be the first Club 3000 Bingo hall in its area.

Brian Fraser, the founder of Club 3000 Bingo, said:

“We are thrilled to expand our portfolio to 25 clubs and bring the Club 3000 Bingo brand to Leeds. This is a fantastic community and venue, and we look forward to offering our customers an exceptional bingo experience in a first-class, modern, and secure environment. We promise something special for both regular bingo lovers and new customers alike.”

Also this year, the operator is preparing to move into the new home of its Edinburgh club in the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre. More than £6 million has been invested in developing the club, which will give players easy access to retail, leisure, and dining options, as well as 800 parking spaces and easy public transport access. Speaking about the new club, Fraser said, “It promises to be one of the best clubs ever developed in the UK.”
