This year, there will be huge parties and celebrations for Bongo’s Bingo 10th birthday, and as part of the celebrations, Jonny Bongo and his team have launched a new podcast.
The podcast called Bongo’s Bungalow, promises to reveal all about the crazy story of Bongo’s Bingo and what takes place behind the scenes to make the crazy events happen. It will also be taking a general look at UK pop culture, include weekly stories, and generally, try to make sense of the mad world we live in.
Alongside Jonny Bongo will be Jimmy Sweets, one of the first hosts of Bongo’s Bingo, and Slutty Susie, real name Cole Fraser, who was one of the first dancers. Between them, they know all there is to know about Bongo’s Bingo and they promise to tell all.
The three will be hosting a main episode each Tuesday and will release a bonus show on Fridays. The aim is to invite players and listeners into the world of Bongo’s Bingo ahead of the main tenth birthday celebrations in March.
Speaking about the new podcast, Jonny Bongo said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be launching the Bongo’s Bungalow in February. I’ve always wanted to do a podcast, especially following on from the streaming we did during the pandemic to the nation. And this feels like the perfect time to launch as we approach our 10th birthday too.
Jim, Cole and myself will be delving deep into what makes Bongo’s Bingo tick, the story of how we started and our weekly exploits, mixed with audience participation, weekly features, dares and bonuses. It’s going to be absolutely class and we’re super excited to bring Bongo’s Bingo to a new audience.”
The podcast is being produced On Repeat, and the first episode went live on Tuesday, 4 February, followed by the bonus episode on Friday, 7 February. There are now 7 episodes available to listen to and you can catch up with them on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podtail, and Google Podcasts, and watch them on YouTube.
Each episode ranges from roughly 20 to 40 minutes and they cover a great variety of topics. For instance, the main episode last week was titled “Parties, Piles & Samuel L Jackson” and according to the description, in the episode, Jimmy talks about his daily battles with piles and anxiety while Cole reveals what happened during the marathon drinking session at the Christmas party. They also discuss the surprising and fun experience of having Samuel L Jackson attend a Bongo’s Bingo event, adding an unexpected twist to the night.
It was followed by a bonus episode with the title “Sack the DJ, Cheryl Hole & Dr Johnson” in which Jonny reminisces about his DJ days and shares a “brutal” review from his Aloha residency. Furthermore, they reveal a story about Jimmy that was “never meant to be told”.
The Bongo’s Bungalow podcast is just a small part of the tenth birthday celebrations. The main celebration events will take place in Liverpool on Friday, 7 March, and Saturday, 8 March.
Bongo’s Bingo is promising to pull out all the stops for the celebratory events and deliver “bigger games”, “crazier surprises”, and “mind-blowing fun”.
The event description promises, “This is the next level the maddest bingo experience we’ve ever done. We’re gonna cry. You’re gonna cry. Most importantly though, we’re going to f**king PARTY!” Tickets for both nights are selling fast, but there are still some left. They cost £45 per person, and while this may sound a little steep, it promises to be a party like no other.
Unfortunately, the birthday celebrations are only taking place in Liverpool. However, for those elsewhere, there are still plenty of Bongo’s Bingo events to look forward to, including a run of St Patrick’s Day specials across the country next month.
