In a survey, 70% of people named the jacket potato as their favourite winter food, which inspired Mecca Bingo to work with Britain’s most famous jacket potato seller.
The result is the “Jackpot Jack Pot”, a delectable treat worth more than £50, thanks to its luxurious toppings of lobster, caviar, truffles, and gold leaf. Better yet, it is being given away for free at select bingo clubs over the coming weeks; you can check them on the online Mecca Bingo site.
Spudman, real name Ben Newman, has an enormous social media following of more than 5.3 million people, and his latest creation features saffron butter-infused lobster tail with caviar, truffle shavings, and shredded Gruyère cheese. The dish is topped with edible gold leaf, and rounding off the scrumptious spud are black truffle butter and a mixture of fresh chives, chervil and tarragon.
Over the next few weeks, visitors to Mecca venues should keep their eyes peeled for the Spudman’s trailer. He recently made his first stop in Hull and dozens of people braved the icy temperatures to queue up for a free potato.
Over the coming Wednesdays, he will also be visiting Stevenage and Blackpool, and there is talk of adding more stops to the tour.
